How To Choose A Web Hosting Service

short snippet

  1. Know your hosting needs.
  2. Investigate on host reliability and uptime guarantees.
  3. Study web host upgrading options.
  4. Check all hosting features (such as number of addon domains allowed) based on your needs.
  5. Check prices on both sign up and renewal.
  6. Check hosting control panel

1. Pricing
Web_Host_Pricing

Your budget plays a big role in deciding which web host to choose.

It’s pretty understandable to want to jump at the least expensive option we can find. However, purchasing a hosting plan has the same caveat as buying anything else: you get what you pay for.

Ideally, hosts with the best features do tend to be a little more expensive. Still, it may be your best bet especially if you’re looking to make money from your blog.

Hosts that offer very low startup rates typically cover fewer features within their packages. So much so that you need to pay extra for essentials like email accounts/mailboxes, email forwarding, additional pages, widgets, etc.

Best look carefully into what a host’s package actually contains first.

2. Add-ons
Add-ons

What mainly differentiates web hosts from each other? It’s the extra stuff they give you to sweeten the deal. What can you get from them that you won’t as easily get from others?

Do they give you free domain privacy, regular data backups, tools to help you organize your blog or any other perks? Finding an add-on offer that has value for you may be an indicator of a particular web host being a good fit for you.

3. Area of expertise

what to look for in a web host, key factors to consider when choosing web server software, to transfer your website from your computer to a web server what program would you need, host my website free, importance of web hosting, evaluating web hosting services, choosing hardware for website, types of web hosting, WEB HOSTING, HOSTING, HOSTING COMPANY, best web hosting, how to choose best web hosting

importance of web hosting,
evaluating web hosting services,

WEB HOSTING,

how to choose best web hosting

Same as having a good grasp of your budget for your website, knowing what kind of blog you want to make in the first place is equally as important.

This figures into finding a host that reflects your own goals for your blog.

For example, if your goal is to start a business blog, it would be best to pick a web host that has excellent business solutions. A host that supports and is compatible with online marketing tools will be a good pick.

4. Specs
Web host Specs

If you plan to earn money through blogging, you’d do well to stay as far away as you can from the pitfalls of both free and cheap hosting.

First of all, just as mentioned in The Inquirer, professional hosting has these advantages over a free one:

Uniqueness
Reliability
Search Engine Rankings
Bandwidth and storage, and;
Support and Assistance
Plus, both free and cheap hosting won’t work for you as they generally do not have the specs required to support your blog’s needs. They may not have the bandwidth or storage necessary to keep your blog running fast and smooth.

Look carefully into what features are included in the web host’s packages. Are there additional charges for extra domains, backups, support, etc.

Scout around reviews, forums and message boards. Call their customer support. Ask questions. Before deciding to purchase, make sure that the web host you choose takes your website goals as seriously as you do.

5. Technical Support
Regardless of whether you’re an expert or a beginner, technical support is one thing you should never disregard.

As with any other technology, various things can happen to your site. It could unexpectedly crash and go down for some unknown reason.

You’ll want a web host that has a support line with real people that you can talk to and ask for assistance on how to get your site back online.

Hosts differ in this area as well. Some put a premium on their technical support reputation and do well to live by it. Others have a so-so type of technical support. You’d do well to choose the first one instead of the latter.

As much as possible, aim for a web host that has 24/7 support and various ways to contact them.

6. Email Features

Blogging for business means you’ll want to have a unique, professional email account on your domain as well.

Fortunately, a lot of web hosts offer email accounts together with your package. Still, here are a few things you’ll want to make sure of as much as possible.

how many mailboxes can you set up
how will you receive your emails
does it include email tools like spam filters and auto-response features for when you’re unavailable?

7. Scalability

One last thing that should figure heavily on your choice of a web host for your blog is the hosting provider’s capability of growing with you.

Do they offer various service tiers that you can upgrade to as your number of visitors grow? You’ll want to pick a web host that can scale up together with you as your site grows bigger.

One reason you want to avoid a host that does not offer adequate scalability is that as your blog audience gets bigger, your site’s performance will be adversely affected.

When that happens and your existing hosting provider cannot accommodate your site’s needs, you do have the option to switch providers. However, it would cost a lot of time, effort and money doing so. It’s a troublesome situation that can otherwise be avoided by choosing the right provider the first time.

Importance Of Content Marketing For Small Business

Why your small business should focus on content marketing ? Here is the best guide to improve your small business in large way !

Running a small business online can be a rewarding and freeing experience. Without the pressures of commuting, sharing an office with colleagues you don’t really like and worrying about your next annual review, you can put your own skills to the test and make money by doing so.

content marketing tips for small businesses,
top marketing strategies for small businesses,
types of marketing strategies for small business,

Whether you run a product or service-related business, there are hundreds of ways that you can promote your brand and get people to click through to your website. And when you treat visitors in the same way you’d treat customers walking into your bricks and mortar store, your attitude to online marketing changes. That’s why it’s important your website looks the part, has a clear call to action and includes all of the information that a customer would need to make an important purchasing decision. Once you’ve got the basics nailed down, it’s time to move on to digital marketing strategies that can drive traffic to you.

One of the best marketing strategies is content marketing. Simply put, content marketing is the creation and promotion of content – whether a blog post, a video, a social media update or even an eBook or free download. As a small business owner, content should be a major part of your operation – and below, we’ve rounded up the reasons

why  your small business should focus on

  1. content Marketing

  3. small business marketing strategies that work,

1. Content gives visitors’ new material

Perhaps the most obvious reason for keeping your blog updated with fresh content on a day-to-day basis is giving your customers something new to read. If your website looks the same every time a visitor stops by, they’ll be less likely to come back again. If your blog is packed with engaging, up-to-the-minute content that speaks to them, they’ll be more likely to add your website to their bookmarks bar and stop by once in a while.

And every time they do stop by, you’ll be giving them another reason to stick around, which will reduce your bounce rate and increase conversion rates. It makes sense – the longer a visitor stays on your website, and the more they interact with the content you have created, the more chances you have of converting them into a customer by promoting your products directly from within your content. Which leads us on to our next point…

2. Content can help you promote your products

Content marketing is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to promote your products and services directly to your customers. Rather than traditional advertising, content is a subtler and more intelligent way of promoting your stuff. Indeed, you’ll be gently reminding and persuading customers that your products are right for them, rather than pushing what you do down their throats with a flashing “buy our product now” banner.

When you write content, you can promote your products by mentioning them as examples, using your services as a case study, or adding a link to your product pages as a call to action.

3. Content is good for search engines

Content marketing is one of the best ways to grow your sitemap and have more pages indexed by Google. And it’s simple – the more content you have indexed by Google, the more chances you have of people clicking through to your website when they search for terms that are related to your products. That’s why content needs to be an ongoing process.

When you write new content, remember to link back to your other posts, and also to pages that are associated with your chosen keywords. Internal linking is good for SEO, and regularly including the keywords you’d like to rank for in your content will also help.

But remember not to go overboard. It’s important that you focus on quality content rather than push something out every week that serves no value or purpose to your customers. In fact, pushing out low-quality content can cause you to be penalised by Google, so don’t.

The best way to produce high-quality content on a regular basis is to adopt a content marketing strategy, where you plan and write your content in advance. Alternatively, you could look at hiring a freelancer or working with an agency to get quality material written.

4. Content refines your business

Content marketing can change the way you think about your business, and help determine which products and services are most popular. For example, if you write lots of content about one product and then generate thousands in sales from that content, then you may choose to refine your product offering to further increase conversions. Whether you do this by creating a unique selling point or simply by positioning your business as an authority in your niche, the choice is yours. Just write content and see where your strategy takes you.

The best way to determine which content is best for your business is to install a plugin like Google Analytics and monitor the traffic from search engines. From there, you’ll be able to see where your audience finds your content and make changes to your strategy accordingly.

5. Content creates and develops relationships

Content marketing is a great way to network with like minded individuals and business owners, and take your business to the next level. Blog commenting can help you reach out to people you typically wouldn’t have spoken to, while the benefits of guest blogging are endless. Simply put, the more content you create and the more you engage with your audience, the better your chances of finding success online. So it pays to get writing.

Publishing content also allows you to grow and develop your relationships with customers and influencers. Posting great content on social media will land you new followers and keep existing ones entertained, while blogger outreach will open your business to new potential connections that you can leverage to build backlinks and grow your business.

There’s no doubting that content marketing takes time and patience to perfect, but the results really are worth the effort. Get started on your content marketing strategy today, and you’ll soon find success online

iPhone 8 Plus review

DESIGN
The iPhone 8 is fundamentally the fourth generation of the iPhone 6 — Apple told us it thinks of the 8 as an “all-new design,” but that’s also what Apple said about the iPhone 6S and 7. It must take a lot of effort to keep reinventing the same basic design without actually changing it. The major difference you’ll notice is the glass back, but other than that nothing has changed — the 8 and 8 Plus will fit right into 7 and 7 Plus cases perfectly.

That glass back is heavier than the aluminum on the 7, but it’s not bad — in fact, I like how the combination of the glass and increase in weight make the phone easier to hold than the 6 and 7, which always felt like they were about to fly out of my hand. You don’t need a case for these new phones, but you’ll probably want one: Apple claims the glass is stronger than ever, but I’ve already scratched the 8 Plus by carrying it around in my pocket. We’ll see what happens when millions of people around the world start dropping these things.

The iPhone 8 comes in three colors — I received gold and silver phones to review. The silver is pretty familiar, but the gold isn’t exactly what you’d expect. The back is a very 70s-looking cream color, which several people I showed it to really liked. It might even appease those mourning the loss of the rose gold option.

DISPLAY AND SPEAKERS
Apple’s added True Tone tech to the iPhone 8 display, which first appeared on the iPad Pro. I’ve always thought the iPhone LCD was the best overall display on the market in terms of color accuracy, and True Tone just makes it look better, by measuring ambient light with sensors on the front of the phone and adjusting color temperature on the fly. You won’t notice it working while it’s on, but if you obsessively click the button on and off under most indoor lighting you’ll see things warm up a little when it’s active.

The iPhone 8’s upgraded stereo speakers are impressively good. Just as on the iPhone 7, the earpiece gets really loud to act as the second speaker, but the whole system gets up to 25 percent louder now. You can hear actual stereo separation, which is wild.

WIRELESS CHARGING AND BATTERY LIFE
The glass back allows for wireless charging, based on the Qi standard. Apple gave me one of the Mophie charging pads it’ll be selling in stores, and we tried it out on Qi pads from Samsung as well, and it all just worked.

Qi is pretty slow, though — Apple’s goal is to match the charging speed of its own 5W pack-in charger, but I only saw about 15 percent more charge on the 8 Plus every 30 minutes with the Mophie, which is especially pokey when you consider that you can’t pick up and use your phone during that time. A future iOS update will let the iPhone 8 draw more power out of the Mophie and Belkin pads Apple sells in stores, so hopefully things speed up when that happens.

The iPhone 8 also supports fast charging for quick top-offs, which seems much more useful — any higher-powered charger will work, according to Apple, but you’ll see best results if you plug into a 29W USB-C MacBook charger, which will net you 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. Other chargers are similarly speedy, though: I saw 40 percent more charge on the 8 Plus in 30 minutes connected to an iPad charger. But you’ll have to buy a high-powered wall charger separately to see those speeds — in the box is the same 5W brick that has come with the iPhone since time immemorial.

CAMERAS
Over the past year, the S8 and Pixel pulled ahead of the iPhone 7 in various tests. Apple told me they don’t look at benchmarks closely, but the images from the iPhone 8 camera definitely look more like Apple’s competitors than before.

Like Samsung, iPhone images are now more saturated by default, although Apple says it’s still aiming for realism instead of the saturated colors and smoothing of the S8. And HDR is just on all the time, like the Pixel — you can’t turn it off, although you can set it to save a non-HDR image as well. We ran around shooting with an iPhone 8, a Pixel XL, and S8, and iPhone 7 on auto, and the iPhone 8 produced the most consistent and richest images of the group, although the Pixel was the clear winner several times, especially in extreme low light. We’ll do a hardcore comparison test when the Pixel 2 comes out.

AUGMENTED REALITY
Where you do get a sense of the extra performance is when you try new apps that use Apple’s ARKit in iOS 11. There aren’t many out there, but I got to try some early versions of a measuring app, an app that teaches you about the human heart, a stargazing app, a Thomas the Tank Engine game and of course, a demo app from IKEA that lets you see what furniture looks like in a room. I use a non-AR stargazing app called SkyView Free all the time, and the AR-enabled Sky Guide AR was a particular revelation — the tracking is so much better than anything I’ve ever seen. This stuff is going to be really fun to play with as it rolls out.

There’s a whole future of phone interactions coming as AR goes from standalone demos to a core part of the app developer’s toolkit, and Apple’s way ahead of Google’s Tango effort and new ARCore approach so far. Playing with AR on iOS 11 is a pretty exciting taste of the future. But you don’t need an iPhone 8 to do it; the iPhone SE, 6S, and 7 will support it when they’re updated to iOS 11 as well.

IOS 11
We’ll do a full review of iOS 11 as well, but it’s a huge update. You’ll notice chunkier fonts everywhere, and redesigns of most major apps. I’m particularly impressed with the new App Store design, which is much more curated and editorially-driven than before — there are blog-like writeups of apps all over the place. It’s like a fancy app catalog, and it turns the App Store into a repeat destination on your phone, not just something you have to deal with.

The new iOS 11 Control Center makes way more sense than before and offers a lot of customization options. And in extremely good news, airplane mode can now be set to just turn off the cell radio and leave WiFi and Bluetooth active, which is a huge boon for frequent travelers and people who travel in and out of spotty cell service areas.

Overall, iOS 11 is a really solid update — and if you have an iPhone 7, you might not miss any of the iPhone 8’s features once you have it.

After spending a week with the 8, I can’t think of a single compelling reason to upgrade from an iPhone 7. The 7 is still extremely fast, offers virtually the same design in a lighter package with a bigger battery, and will get almost every feature of the 8 with iOS 11. If you really want Qi wireless charging, you can get a slim $15 case that supports it. And if you’re dying for Portrait Lighting, there are tons of photo apps in the App Store that offer similar effects. Of course, if you’re upgrading from anything older than an iPhone 7, the improvements in the camera and the overall speed of the phone are going to really impress you.

Apple’s line is now more segmented than before, with models at every price point between the $349 iPhone SE to the $1,125 256GB iPhone X, and the iPhone 8 sits near the top of that range. Prices are actually $50 more than the 7 was last year, with the 64GB iPhone 8 going for $699 and the 64GB iPhone 8 Plus going for $799. The decision between the 256GB iPhone 8 Plus at $949 and the 64GB iPhone X at $999 seems particularly challenging: do you value Apple’s best and newest design, or raw storage capacity? I know my answer, and it doesn’t look like another version of a phone I bought in 2014.

And yet, a lot of people are going to buy an iPhone 8 — it’s the phone to get if you’re on an upgrade plan, your older phone breaks or finally gets too slow, or you just need a new phone right now. It’s Apple’s new default phone, and it’s pretty great that a default phone is actually this good. But it’s not the future, and it’s not the cutting edge. It’s just the default.

Godaddy’s new mobile ready website builder

Why it matters to you

It’s already fairly simple to build a website. GoDaddy’s tool makes it even easier for almost anyone to go online.

Websites are fairly easy to build in this day and age thanks to platforms like Squarespace, Wix, and WordPress. GoDaddy, the web hosting company and domain registrar, thinks it can be simplified even further. GoCentral is its new venture, and it only takes minutes to get a site up and running.

GoCentral is a website builder that integrates marketing tools based on ideas and industries. Type in things like hairstylist or plumber and GoCentral will “produce a near-complete website, pre-filled with relevant sections and professional images.” There are more than 1,500 ideas and industries supported.

These sites are built to look good on any medium, whether it’s a computer, tablet, or smartphone. But the focus for GoCentral isn’t site design — it’s meant to help people get activity updates, and feedback on how users can improve their engagement results. All of this happens thanks to GoCentral’s “smart algorithms and machine learning,” which adapts to users for prime optimization.

Site categories are specific enough that they’ll come equipped with relevant sections — you can remove these or add new ones if you so desire. Stock images are pulled from various agencies like Getty Images, and if these sites don’t have what you’re looking for, GoCentral uses machine learning to improve the category and find you the next best image.

Site building is just a small part of GoCentral — the marketing features help users learn how to increase their readership. For example, GoCentral can help users “jump-start email marketing campaigns;” get the business on Facebook; and improve search engine optimization to rank higher on Google.

It even keeps mobile checkout options — support for Apple Pay is built in, as well as PayPal, and paying with credit card.

Stack overflow is the most widely known web development blog out there, and the headliner of our 5. The title of best development blog is well earned with it’s great, interactive tutorials and blog pieces which keep you up to date with all the news you could want within the developing world. A stack overflow was created in 2008 with the aim of helping anyone from the beginner hobbyist to senior developers with any problems they come across. It offers a range of tutorials and blog posts on coding languages such as HTML5, CSS3, Jquery, PHP, and MySQL.

One of my personal favorite pieces on the site was on “How to make a drop-down menu with CSS”, this is because it was nice and simple and explained the problem and the solution in a way in which anon-developer would understand.

Tuts Plus is a development blog brought to you by the creators of Themeforest, Envato. Tuts+ offers a wide range of tutorials and blogs for subjects such a web design and development all the way to 3D motion graphics. Tuts+ is a premium service, however, they do offer some great free resources such as “What is HTML5?”  which is ideal if you are just starting out in the web development industry. They do offer a free 10-day trial which allows you to view all the premium content, and if you then want to join it comes at a monthly price of $15. While the cost may be steep for the freelancers out there, having the subscription as part of your tools for work and a resource for your team is something I would highly recommend.

Treehouse is a valuable repository of tutorials and blog posts for developers because they offer resources for a wide range of coding languages such as HTML5, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and javascript. Similar to tuts+ treehouse is a premium service however they do offer a small amount of free tutorials which you can check out here.

Coding horror sound intimidating but has been created by the makers of Stack Overflow. What makes Coding Horror different to Stack Overflow is that whilst Stack Overflow offers tutorials from other members, Coding Horror only offers blog posts. However, throughout many of the in-depth posts that are published on the site, there are tutorials within the content. Coding horror is targeted towards the more experienced developer as they offer a comprehensive range of detailed, and in some cases, quite complicated methods to complete a project. The best feature of Coding Horror is that is free every much like Stack Overflow, so anyone can use it!

A post which stands out to me is this piece on the topic of “does HTML validation really matter?”. I found this blog piece very informative and gave a lot of brilliant points on why it matters and why is doesn’t.

DailyJS

DailyJS is a blog that concentrates on the coding language of Javascript and all of the frameworks such as Jquery. They have a wide range of different blog posts that help you with the development of Javascript applications. When you first get onto the DailyJS website you might not think much of it, as the visuals on the site don’t quite compare to that of the higher budget sites. However but once you look into some of the posts you will realise you were very wrong. The actual content of the site promotes some high quality posts that cover topics that solve real-world Javascript problems. All in all I believe that DailyJS falls short of competing with that of Stack Overflow and Tuts+ as it is limited to its coverage of Javascript. Whilst this may benefit some users looking into topics in-depth, it does not provide a well rounded approach to development.

Personally I think a good example of a high quality piece from this site would be their blog on “Introducing simplemaps” because it offers a way to make maps of the world that can be place into a web page very easily.

How To Beat your Competitor

Think about that statement. It’s the reason why some of the best ideas can flop, and why some of the most average people can be wildly successful. Somewhere along the way there was a competitive advantage.

But it’s also one way to pull ahead of your competition — find and create unfair advantages. Here are four ways you can leave your competitors in the dust.

1. Position strengths to weaknesses.
Even if your competitor has a better product and is willing to sell it at a lower price, you can still win. Every competing company has weak points — places where your brand can outperform. Things like domestic customer service or extended guarantees on a product can go a long way if done right.

Your job is to find these points and exploit them in your marketing and presentations. Let your prospective customers know why these selling points are important and why it makes your brand a better choice.

2. Stay lean.
This is about maximizing value and minimizing waste. Value refers to features a customer wants to pay for while waste essentially is everything else.

This means you must be in constant contact with your clients and understand why they’re buying your product. Ask them how you can enhance it. Any additional features your product offers — no matter how attractive — should be dropped if your clients don’t want them.

3. Go after large clients.
Larger clients can often result in more business and increased revenues, which means more resources for marketing and hiring new employees. But large clients can also be easier to service than smaller companies. It’s a strange phenomenon, but smaller companies sometimes need more hand holding and have more service issues than middle-market companies with established systems.

Additionally, larger clients can give your company credibility when meeting with other potential prospects.

But don’t worry if the idea of approaching a larger company scares you. Your smaller size should be an advantage since it allows you to move faster and continually think outside of the box. Also position the idea that a change in vendor will inject a sense of freshness into the project its working on.

4. Know your numbers.
I’m surprised how many entrepreneurs don’t know the critical numbers that can either make or break their business. Here are a few of the basics that every startup should be tracking:

ACV (Average Customer Value). This refers to how much money the average customer spends with you over a given period of time.
CPA (cost per acquisition). This is your cost every time you acquire a new client.
ROI (return on investment) on marketing campaigns.
Break even. This is the volume of sales you need to cover the cost of making sales.

Meetings which will improve your results

Set the Agenda

It may seem like an obvious requirement, but a lot of meetings start with no clear sense of purpose. The meeting’s agenda can be summarized on a handout, written on a whiteboard or discussed explicitly at the outset, but everyone should know why they’ve gathered and what they’re supposed to be accomplishing. The agenda provides a compass for the conversation, so the meeting can get back on track if the discussion wanders off course.

If leaders make sure there is an agenda before a meeting starts, everyone will fall in line quickly.

“If I don’t have an agenda in front of me, I walk out,” said Annette Catino, chief executive of the QualCare Alliance Network. “Give me an agenda or else I’m not going to sit there, because if I don’t know why we’re in the meeting, and you don’t know why we’re there, then there’s no reason for a meeting. It’s very important to me to focus people and to keep them focused, and not just get in the room and talk about who won the Knicks game last night.”

Start on Time. End on Time.

Nothing can drain the energy from a room quite like waiting for the person in charge to show up. Why do so many in positions of power fall into the bad habit of being late for meetings? Is it just that they’re so busy? Or is there a small thrill in keeping everyone waiting for them, a reminder that their time is somehow more valuable than everyone else’s?

Time is money, of course, and all that sitting around and trying to guess when the boss may arrive is a waste of a precious resource. When establishing the informal rules of an organization, employees take their cues from the person in the corner office. If that person wants meetings to start on time, meetings will start on time.

Terry Lundgren, the chairman of Macy’s, has never hesitated to enforce a strict policy of on-time meetings. “If the meeting is at 8, you’re not here at 8:01, you’re here at 8, because the meeting’s going to start at 8,” he said. “Busy people that can’t get off the last phone call to get there, [need to] discipline themselves to be there on time.”J

Just as important as starting on time is ending on time. A definitive end time will help ensure that you accomplish what’s on your agenda and get people back to their work promptly. “I like to have an agenda that we think through,” Mr. Lundgren added, “and we say, ‘This meeting’s going to go for two hours,’ and we force ourselves to carve through the agenda.’”

End with an Action Plan

Leave the last few minutes of every meeting to discuss the next steps. This discussion should include deciding who is responsible for what, and what the deadlines are. Otherwise, all the time you spent on the meeting will be for naught.

Shellye Archambeau, chief executive of MetricStream, a firm that helps companies meet compliance standards, likes to end her meetings by asking, “Who’s got the ball?”

“When you’re in sports, and the ball is thrown to you, then you’ve got the ball, and you’re now in control of what happens next,” she said. “You own it. It becomes a very visible concept for making sure that there’s actually ownership to make sure things get done.”
